Vaishakh month or Vaishakh maas is the second month according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The Puranas state that Lord Brahma has bestowed the title of being the most cherished and desired of all the months upon Vaishakh. This month is like a mother who always gives all that is wonderful and desired. This month serves as an overview of acts, penance, religious devotional offerings, righteousness, and penance combined with meditation. This year, The Vaishakh month began on 24th April 2024.

Vaishakh Month 2024: Significance Of This Sacred Month 

According to Hindu texts, all the gods honour and adore the month of Vaishakh. Similar to how among the knowledge - the knowledge of the Vedas, amongst the Verses - the verse Pranav, amongst the Trees - Kalp Vriksh, amongst the Cows - Kamdhenu, among the gods - Lord Vishnu Amongst the caste - Brahmins, amongst dearest things - life, amongst the Rivers - River Ganga, amongst the power/lustre of light - the Sun, amongst the Weapons - Chakra, amongst metals - Gold, amongst the Vaishnavas and Kaustubh - Lord Shiva, amongst the Gemstones - Kaustubh Gemare considered the Topmost, in the same way, Vaishakh month is considered the prime among the Months, in terms of the actions supporting the Righteousness and Religious Activities.

"Jala Daan" takes on considerable significance during the month of Vaishakha because those who aspire to wealth must resort to ways of providing water to the general public; roadside outlets for travellers are particularly helpful during the summer.  The benefits of planting trees for shade, donating footwear, umbrellas, and fans, arranging for "Anna daan," or midday meals, and providing free lodging in rest homes, particularly for "Yatris," as well as creating other facilities, are immense and far-reaching.
